Unconventional Relevance

One of the constant disconnects most people voice about church is that what we talk about has no relevance to life in the 21st century.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  The deep questions that we wrestle with today are the same ones people have been seeking answers to for thousands of years.   In that same context, the church has wasted a lot of energy down through the centuries trying to delineate what is spiritual and what is secular.  In a lot of cases, there are serious blurs between those two.  Nowhere is this more evident than in the music, art and film of our day.  While there may be reputations and stigmas unfortunately attached to the artists, when we look past the stigma, we hear the same deep questions being asked, with a longing for answers.  We're all looking for the same things in life.  So when others ask the questions in more succinct and connective ways, we'll give voice to them.  And then we'll look to the unchanging voice of God to find the answers we're all looking for.
